about

This EP is two structured improvisations I performed at Sound Symposium in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, 2022.

Track 1 is the live performance with one improv running into the other, while tracks 2 and 3 are recordings of my rehearsal at the venue. I had to do some editing on the rehearsal tracks as there were some technical difficulties. While the performance went smoother for me, the rehearsal definitely had a rawness to the sound that I like.

The album artwork is an instax photo of my "loopcase," aka Ruby Noseworthy Summer Clothes. I found this lovely heirloom of my late grandmother in my parent's place while I was home for the Symposium. Finding it was perfect timing for this performance, and I was happy to give it a new life and be reminded of her.
